Today's Bit of Wisdom

Money is technically worthless. Its only value comes from what you do with it.

Therefore just using it to get more money nets you zero actual value until you do something with it.

Although simply having money available can have positive effects even if it's never spent. More confidence and less stress, for example. Higher societal status, if other people are aware of it.

These in turn can have measurable knock-on effects on health, career, and general success.

Is that because of the money though, or the security of knowing it's available for emergencies or just whenever you happen to need it? I suspect the latter. No need to worry about things if you know you can take care of them.

Which, of course, makes you want to question the value of anything that can be bought with money. Having worked in finance, and watching Chapter 13-ens, and bankrupt companies continue to function...you dont really need money to accrue once you reach a certain level. But...the fed had been complaining that it costs 1.78 cents to create a copper penny. How worthless is that?
