Man,I feel like a tool

See, I was down at Grand Prix Richmond for Magic the past couple of days. And I saw [livejournal.com profile] theferrett there, but I never stopped and said hi, since I don't actually know him, and only recognized him from his LJ icon. Even when he was drafting against my friend, or when he was just wandering around.

And then I see he posted this from the Grand Prix yesterday, about feeling awkward and not knowing who to talk to and stuff. Which is exactly the reasons why I didn't say hi to him. And I didn't want to go all fanboy weird like "Hi, I recognized you from your LJ icon!"

And I felt exactly the same way at the GP, too. I mean, hell, if nothing else, we could probably have talked about webcomics.

Well, fuck.

Pfft. You should have said hello. It's [livejournal.com profile] theferrett! He is a God among LJers.

Yes, I should have. But not because he's a God among LJers. While I was wandering around feeling like I didn't know anybody there, or have anybody to talk to, he was doing the same thing. While I was figuring he knew plety of people there and had fanbeings bugging him regularly enough at Magic events and stuff, he wasn't. If I'd said hi, we woulda both probably had a better evening, coulda talked about webcomics or Magic fairly easily, probably. But I didn't. For the same reason he wasn't talking to many people. Which makes me feel like a tool, plus it's illustrative irony. And it's especially annoying since he doesn't live anywhere near here, so this was the best chance to say hi for who knows how long. All because I'm an idiot.

Well, yeah. There's that reason too.

[livejournal.com profile] theferrett is a really nice and very approachable guy. At least he was when I met him years ago ;)

Dude, I KNOW. And I knew then that I'd feel like a tool if I came home and posted something like "I saw him, but didn't say hi."

But I figured he got enough random people bothering him since he's semi-famous, and didn't want to be just another annoying fanboy. I was wrong about this, but I didn't know then. Poop.
