"Vigilante Jesus"
May. 11th, 2005 12:04 amI was reading a thread over at http://www.crookedtimber.org and one of the commenters summed up a bunch of the current trends of fundamentalist reactionary Christianity in the US as "wanting a Vigilante Jesus". Which seems fairly accurate, and also sounds like a band name, or a comic.

Date: 2005-05-11 08:11 am (UTC)Though Biblically, he was never really a vigilante...more often than not he was a nonviolent protestor (And with good reason back then!). It was his buddies that got overzealous from time to time and got all pissy with their local government.
