Linkiness

Random links. A Slowed Down Version of the Chipmunks Christmas Song It's very strange. (Via BoingBoing)

The Virtue of Idleness, an extract from a book. I wish US papers published more stuff like this. And, related, The Right to be Lazy, from those wacky nineteenth century Communists. (Both via Crooked Timber)

On an unrelated note, I found a copy of Zen Without Zen Masters at a used bookstore recently, I've gotta sit down and read it. And I have to sit down and write up my post about Libretarians and how they've started working against their own logic lately. Anyway, that's all from me for now, carry on.

It's a Discordian book of parables and suchlike, which makes it part of either a complicated joke disguised as a new kind of Buddhism, or a new kind of Buddhism disguised as a complicated joke, or both at the same time and neither. Ain't quantum fun? Other than that, I can't really give you any specifics, 'cause I haven't settled down to read it yet. A related link is the Principa Discordia.

Also: Wikipedia on Eris, Wikipedia on Discordianism.

On the other hand, there's all sorts of fancy quotes on the back of Zen without Zen Masters, so who knows.

And , to be handy, an Amazon link. The book's out of print, sadly, I believe.
