Frustrating Reading
Feb. 11th, 2005 11:34 pmI'm reading this book called Iron John: A Book About Men because I saw it mentioned in comments from somebody else's LJ. It's about men, and modern society, and myths, and how things in modern society, especially men working in offices outside the home most of the day have changed things, and some of the consequences of it. But it's frustrating! Every time the author says something interesting, or leading, or insightful, he says it, then skips off in the next few paragraphs to ramble about random things, or add psychobabble interpretations of fairy tales, or just assert something new. It's just assertions, there's no backup, no explanation, nothing. Every nugget of interesting stuff is followed by paragraphs of nothing.
Meh. I wish people wrote better.
