Grautiotous Insults, aimed at Senators.
Feb. 5th, 2005 12:35 amJoe Lieberman D-CT) is not suited to be a representative of this country. He is a coward and a small man, willing to overlook minor things like a candidate's support and approval of torture when deciding who should be the chief law enforcement officer of the United States.
The same goes for Landrieu (D-LA), Nelson (D-FL), Nelson (D-NE), Pryor (D-AR), and Salazar (D-CO). Cowards and idiots, the lot of them.
But they're hardly alone. The entire Republican side of the Senate deserves your scorn, too, because they voted unanimously to approve as Gonzales as AG. And re-approve Rumsfeld as Sec of Defense, but that was most everybody, despite his incompetence.
I'm not sure what the ones who didn't vote (Baucus (D-MT), Conrad (D-ND), Burns (R-MT), Inouye (D-HI)) deserve, but since there weren't even enough votes to filibuster, I'll leave them off the hook for now.
I have utterly lost respect for John McCain through all this. He talked big, then the Bushies played hardball and went negative on him, beat him in the primaries, threatened him in the last election, so he rolled over and gave up, hoping maybe if he's a good boy, they'll let him try and run for President after Jeb. Well, I don't know that for certain, but when a man who was a prisoner of war votes for a man who approved torture for Attorney General, it's a definite sign he's lost what integrity and dignity he had.

The most disgustingly ingenious portion of this whole clown show has to be the Republicans who kept getting up and implying that because the Democrats were opposing Gonzales, it had to be because he was Hispanic. Just as they did with Condi, implying that opposing her because of her incompetence and lying to the country was really because she was black. It's a very good way to try and set the Democrats against their own values and some of their constituencies, aside from it being, y'know, completely unrelated to reality. Not that reality has any bearing on this Administration, or the modern Republican leadership. Object to torture? "Oh, but he's Hispanic, and he has an inspiring life story!" Fine, great. Inspiring life story or not, hispanic or not, he's just as capable of approving of evil and illegal tactics as a privileged white guy, transgendered asian, or what have you. Being tolerant means judging people without regard to their skin color or ancestry. For if they're good OR evil.
