Squish

So, Black Widow spiders are on the list of things I can squish without feeling terribly guilty.

It's a list mostly limited to parasites and things dangerous to family and pets.

They're hardly a danger. The chance of a black widow causing any serious harm to people or pets is so incredibly slim. Most of the time, they won't even bite when they find somebody in their face; they'll just curl up in a ball and play dead. They're incredibly good for keeping the house clear of bugs that might actually be annoying or even harmful.

They're still way blow hamsters with knives tied to their backs.

In general, and in principle, I agree with you. But.
We have 4 cats, two of which are barely no longer kittens, I do not trust them NOT to try and eat the shiny bug.

Also, we have plenty of other spiders around to eat nasty bugs, and Friend to All Living Things as I try to be, deadly poisonous bugs are not something I want around. Probably a reason not to move to Australia, since by law, everything in Australia can kill you in a maximum of two bites.
