So, I've been trying to tweak my resume, and reading online to find hints, and I've come to this conclusion. Nobody knows a damn thing about resumes, except to keep it short, because HR people have short attention spans and hundreds to look at. Other than that, some say yes to objectives, others say goals, some say neither, some say chronological order of jobs, others say relevance, some say paragraphs for what you did, others say sentences, others say fewer words the better.

Sheesh, it makes it harder to figure out what to put for things than if I'd just written something.

Welp old trick that I learned was to Google for Resume formats for whatever job your looking for since certian jobs look for certian things and all are different. My Roomie has so many diverse jobs she has at least three versions of her Resume depending on what she's applying for

The one thing I found when I did the same thing:

Customise your CVs for each job. Even if it's just a little tweaking here and there to emphasise or expand stuff relevant to that position and condense stuff which isn't.

My 'CV' is a set of files with various writeups of pretty much everything I've done, in formats ranging from multiparagraph to a few words. When I'm asked for one, I pull details from those files according to how well it matches.

Every CV is true. It's just a matter of writing the same ten pages covering everything you've ever done, and then choosing which eight pages of stuff to remove or cut down.
