Well, the saga of the video card/motherboard conflict is over, with me giving up and retreating back to the on-board POS the motherboard came with. At least for now, because I couldn't stand 640x480 in 16 colors any more, and the solutions I found online didn't work. So, I think I'll poke around a little more, and then I'm gonna end up probably taking the video card back to the store and probably just getting a refund, rather than trying to get another one. At least until I get a new motherboard, which I'll look over carefully and make sure it's compatible with the things I want (namely Linux and a decent video card), but that's a way in the future anyway.
