Having worked at one, I can tell you this. Starbucks is not a coffee shop. it is a sugary steamed milk junk food shop.

Seriously. And they put whipped cream* on goddamned everything.

I ordered a spiced apple cider once. They put whipped cream on it. Whipped cream on HOT APPLE JUICE. I would never have thought to order appl juice "no whip". Whipped cream is NOT SOMETHING YOU PUT ON APPLE JUICE. I've never ordered OJ but I wouldn't be surprised if they sprayed whipped cream on that too.

*Not actual whipped cream, of course, but a sweetened petroleum product that tastes like the floor of a high school chemistry lab.

Actually, at least at the one I work at, we make the whipped cream with real cream, plus vanilla syrup, and a CO2 cartridge.

And the whipped cream and caramel sauce on the spiced apple cider taste good!

Now, at the B&N cafe that sells Starbucks coffee, they use canned whipped cream, which is sometimes real cream and sometimes corn starch.
