I Know They're Poets, But...

So today there was a song with part of the chorus, "someday we'll find out why the sky is blue."

Totally threw me off. Because, dude, seriously? We KNOW why the sky is blue. We've known for years. It's one of the basic facts explained in kids encyclopedias. So why's it still getting thrown around like that?

Still makes a pretty sweet metaphor, even if the meaning behind it is a touch archaic. Maybe none of the other ones they could have used made any lyrical sense to the song?

Apparently, that same IP has been repeatedly banned for vandalism on Wikipedia. Dunno why they'd pick my LJ to bother, though.
