One of the things about the Bush administration that scares me the most? They always manage to get worse than I thought possible.

This whole latest thing with the firing of attorneys because they weren't investigating enough Democrats is making John Ashcroft look good as the AG. John Friggin Ashcroft! He was a scary fundie and more than a tad crazy, and had a thing against stone breasts, but he also at least had some standards of professionalism.

No, he really didn't. All this proves is that Gonzales can be just as crooked as Rumsfeld could given the proper context.

Ashcroft recused himself from at least one case where there was a direct conflict of interest. He told the prosecutors and others to do their jobs, not just politics. He was crazy and corrupt and not a good choice for Attorney General AT ALL, but Gonzales is bad enough to make him look good in comparison. Something most of the Bush administration is good at, making people look good in comparison.
