A Paradox

Why are the people who live in rural areas far from crowds and obvious landmarks that would make ideal terrorist targets more afraid of terrorist attacks than the people who live in the shadow of where the World Trade Center used to be?

Because in the area with the landmarks, people live every day, and realise "Hey, I've been here for 5 years, and nothing's been exploded around me.", thus removing the fear.

In the rural areas, however, they get the impression that every day everyone is being killed by terrorists (not to mention homosexuals).

Just my theory.

Hmm, that's probably part of it. I suspect there's a few other things to it also, though.
