Wait, what?

"Firefighters who want to live in high-priced cities can work two jobs, said W. Michael Cox, chief economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. “I think it’s great,” he said. “It gives you portfolio diversification in your income.”"

*blinkblink*

I just... you know, nevermind. It's not even worth trying to get inside that guy's head.

I heard a lot of municipalities bar their emergency service employees from moonlighting, but sure...anybody who's properly motivated shouldn't let the law get in the way of some good ol' American free enterprise, right?

Cities which don't want to be burned to the ground can pay firefighters a living wage, methinks.

"Emergency callout? Sorry bub, I'm working this second job I need to be able to live close enough to actually fight fires. I'll be back on shift at nine tomorrow. Seeya."

Portfolio diversification in income? Say what? And this guy runs a major financial institution.

Say "bullshit justification to try and make having to work two jobs to make ends meet seem like a good thing" is what.
