Stupid Collector Instincts

It seems to be a part of nerd-dom. And a part of why there's so much random crap in my room. I hate to throw anything away. Part of it's "what if that comes in handy?" part of it's "Man, throwing things away is bad for the environment!" and part of it is obsessive collector instincts. It's annoying sometimes, like when I was getting rid of a bunch of random receipts and stuff by burning them, part of my brain was going "OHNOES!" and I was going "Listen, me. There's seriously no reason whatever I'm going to need a dozen ATM receipts from when I got money. I have the full bank statement. Let it go."

I really need to learn to let go of pointless things a lot easier.

I think I'm gradually figuring out the reasons for some of the goofier monk things. Like ditching posessions, because that way you figure out which ones you really need.

Or how to distance yourself from needs. I find it admirable, but there's no way I could be that dematerialistic. I'd feel like a TARDIS.
