forsythApril Fool's Day is a holiday I really feel I should like. It's goofy, it's fun, and while it doesn't involve candy or costumes, it's symbolic of the temporary overturn of the social order as a release valve to keep the lower classes in their place for the rest of the year, and who's not for that?
But for some reason, I never manage to get into it. I'm not that terribly good at tricks, and lacking roomates or friends who live less than twenty miles away, it gets difficult to pull a good trick on somebody. It's just not the same over the Internet, even if I had been anywhere near my computer to do so. But I fell a generalized sort of guilt over not celebrating the holiday of pranksters and fools, especially since I haven't managed to for years. Maybe I'm just too lazy. Or out of practice at pranks. But I always seem to forget it's coming, and only realize it too late.
