Gravity in Space
Jan. 10th, 2006 09:55 pmYes, there's gravity in space. Even for astronauts. In this case, the truth is so much cooler than the misconception, though.
See, the astronauts seem weightless because they're falling toward Earth. Constantly. But they're moving so fast, they keep missing. So, yes, the secret to flight is to throw yourself at the ground and miss. You just have to do it REALLY fast.

There's not gravity in space itself, though. There's gravity between the bodies and the the shuttle and and and and the earth, yes, but gravity works with mass, not just, like, planets.
There's just not enough gravity up there to keep their blood goin' the right direction sometimes. Like Tang.
