Home Alone on New Year's Eve
Dec. 31st, 2005 07:55 pmThis is not where I wanted to be. This is not where I planned to be. But here I am, home alone on New Year's Eve. On the computer. Part of this I can blame on the people I know, none of whom ended up doing anything interesting. But that's not even the main reason, because I could be off playing games with a couple people. No, I think I'm getting sick, too. It started late last night as a stuffed up nostril and tickle in the back of my throat from that, now it's moved up to runny nose and the whole happy catalog of random aches and things. So in the interest of not getting everybody else sick, and the interest of not crashing the car driving home, and all that kind of thing, I'm at home, rather than trying to incite a few people to go see King Kong with me then hang out for a couple hours until midnight. I think getting sick on New Year's like this has happened a couple times, and I don't know why. I was fine all through November and December dealing with the kids and sneezers and everything else, so I don't know where this came from. But this is one of those times it'd be nice to have a pretty lady around to bring me chicken soup and give me a backrub. While I know a number of pretty ladies, none of the nearby ones would be willing, and the few I know I might be able to trick into such a thing live many inaccessible miles away. And yes, it'd just be a backrub, because I'm getting sick, and none of them would be interested anyway.
So I guess I'm going to bust out some blankets and go curl up and watch a movie or something. Maybe something I haven't seen, Ocean's Twelve, or Phantom of the Opera, or something. Or re-watch the original Matrix, to remind myself why it was good. Maybe I could call one of the local pretty ladies, since none of them had anything planned, and we can just commiserate about being stuck at home and not doing anything on New Year's.
In whatever case, I'm kind of expecting some kinds of strange fever dreams tonight, and then not being much good for anything tomorrow, which is annoying since I was off work ANYWAY. Ah well. Here's to you folks out there, and hope you have a better and more interesting New Year's than me!

Blizzard's phenomenal drunkeness engine is quite fascinating, really, and there was an all-day/night free kegger at Thunder Bluff.
