"Pentagon to host 9/11 march, show

BY MICHAEL McAULIFF
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon will hold a massive march and country music concert to mark the fourth anniversary of 9/11, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said in an unusual announcement tucked into an Iraq war briefing yesterday.

"This year the Department of Defense will initiate an America Supports You Freedom Walk," Rumsfeld said, adding that the march would remind people of "the sacrifices of this generation and of each previous generation."

The march will start at the Pentagon, where nearly 200 people died on 9/11, and end at the National Mall with a show by country star Clint Black."

Now, that's not the irony part. That's the sad and pathetic part. The irony part is here. The DoD has an online registration form for the "Freedom Walk". And it says right on it " After you submit your registration, you will receive a receipt with a registration number. Please print out this receipt and bring it with you to the Pentagon South Parking to check-in before the event. You MUST have your registration number to check-in!"

You have to pre-register for this spontaneous demonstration of Freedom. And give your name and address to the DoD to do it. Now THAT'S freedom.

Now that I have broadband, but not cable, I've been watching some clips of the Daily Show, and it's fucking hilarious. Which really isn't news, but hey. Jon Stewart is brilliant, and it's just great.

For example, here's a link to a clip about the Air France flight that crashed up in Canada and everybody got out alive. And for people not on broadband, he's talking about how all of the media kept calling it a "miracle", and the money quote: Soiler of sorts )
