Yes, I missed my self-set deadline. I'm gonna spend tomorrow working on it, though. At least the article and one of the statting-outs.

TV show theme songs: New folk music, or hollow bastardization of old traditions?

One of the things that's unique (as far as I know, pretty much) about humans is we put our minds outside our brains. Writing, LJs, just where we place things around homes. We turn our environment into an extension of ourselves, an extension of our brains. That's pretty neat, I think.

I just watched it. It was good. I liked the music and the ambiance and the weird robots that looked like things put together out of a toy scrapheap.

Though, really, if you're going to build the tallest tower in the world, tall enough to break the clouds, don't put a self-destruct button in it. You're already tempting Narrative, that just makes it even worse.

And the Japanese seem a lot more willing to let named characters die than Americans are. There's probably something cultural that I don't know enough to answer.

I enjoy cooking. I'm not terribly good at it, yet, nor do I do it that often, but when I'm in the right mood, I enjoy it. I'm slow, and fumble my way through, but that's half the fun. I've managed to not make anything totally inedible, yet. And I manage to make pretty decent stir fry. Yeah, stir fry's easy. I need to either find some better sauce somewhere, or learn to make some, 'cause the store bought stuff I've used, whichever kinds, generally were okay, but not great. Didn't end up as good as the stuff I can get at the Chinese place in town, but I don't do this all day, either.

Still, I enjoy it, 'cause it feels like I'm actually doing something, and I can see things going from random stuff to meal. Main thing is just having time and energy and inclination to do it. Sorta like writing. Heh.

Are there really people who seriously claim that cities cause all of society's woes? Well, yeah. But saying that cities put the people in them at a disadvantage, evolutionarily speaking, seems to kinda, y'know, be denied by the facts. Cities are everywhere. Lots of people live in them. More all the time. And yes, the suburbs count as cities. Cities are part of the domestication of humans we've managed. Unless you're out hunting in the wilds with bow and spear, or farming (without machinery), you're a city person. There's a reason city and civilization sounds so much alike.
