Yes, I basically called one of my Senators a liar.

Because he (or at least a staffer) sent me a letter that was tragically, comedicly, wrong, on many counts. Mostly tragically, since it's about the torture at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo and elsewhere. My letter's below the read more thing. If you want more about the torture, check Andrew Sullivan's site. He's conservative, and wrong on many issues, but on the torture stuff, he's thorough and condemning it, and a good compiler of the information from many sources. And no, it's NOT happy reading.

Beyond Vietnam

History books don't tell the whole stories. Speeches, sound bites, and video clips don't define a person as what they were. The first thing to remember, about anyone, is that they're human. Even, and especially our enemies, because that's where it's the hardest.

So no, the history books don't tell the whole story about Martin Luther King Jr, but they tell a story. And it's an important one. The ideals in the speeches and letters live on.

So, are we going to live up to them?
