Appropos of nothing

This argument is based, basically, around starting with a premise that's wrong, then extrapolating it with faulty logic, and then just making up some kind of apocalyptic "what if" statement. I call it the "argument from being batshit insane."
It's often used in politics, religious arguments, and OS wars. Probably reasons those often aren't allowed in random chatting places.
