I just finished watching The Butterfly Effect. It was a good movie, but the ending was so bloody depressing. At least on the Director's Cut. I'm sure that most of you have realized by now that I'm no big fan of stories where a person tries to do what's right and is repeatedly smashed by nature/the gods/whatever, for Daring To Do What Man Were Not Meant To Do. Or just because nature/the universe/the gods don't like them. A fan of Greek tragedies I'm not.

The other thing that I took from it was the fact that life and history aren't nearly as much a result of single particular choices as they are a series of tiny choices. Several of the things I'd change if I could weren't just one choice, they were a choice day after day after day. And I'm not sure I would change them, because then I wouldn't be here now doing this. Not that this is much of anything other than being a random middle class leisure parasite, but. I'd probably never have met some of my closest friends, and most of you reading this now.

The real ending is a lot less depressing than the director's cut. Still not good, per se, but not as horrible.

I need to watch that movie at some point. Also, you've got a typo in the second paragraph, second sentence.
