Small Ways #whatever

Laugh.

Seriously. Even if you're feeling like crap, and don't feel like it, laugh. Chances are, at least for a little while you'll feel better. I think laughing does something to your brain chemistry, scientists may support this verdict. Or they may not, I'm too lazy to do research right now.

Also, sometimes, you just have to laugh, or else you'll cry. But mainly it's the feeling better aspect. Laughter and smiles have residuals, that carry along at least for a little while. Which can be abused, such as by work manuals that tell you to "smile before you answer the phone", so the person on the other end "can hear it in your voice." Which is tripe, but also true to an extent. Just because it's stupid corporate bullshit doesn't mean it's always completely wrong. Just usually being put to wrong ends. But answering the phone in a good mood probably isn't bad ends.

So anyway! If nothing else, to laugh, or even chuckle, you'll probably have to think of something funny, and that might jolt you out of the whatever loop of thought had you trapped.

The advice used to be go look in a mirror and smile for 10 seconds and you'll feel happier. I've always found that to work and easier than trying to make yourself laugh ^_^

Tho I don't know about the phone thing, I've been known to make stabby motions at the phone when talking to particular idiots and had them tell my bosses I'm such a nice friendly and helpful receptionist.. :D
