Ninja movie
Apr. 21st, 2005 06:12 pmI watched a ninja movie last night. It was Red Shadow, by the same guy who directed Samurai Fiction. It was pretty good. A bit too much melodrama, and too little crazy ninja antics, but I've noticed that in a lot of Japanese stuff. They'll go from slapstick to melodrama, then back, within the same ten minutes. And unless it's done well, it doesn't usually gel right. In anime or in regular movies. But it was enjoyable, and had good funny bits, and was very pretty. Though I coulda done with less of the meditation video style pictures of streams and leaves.
We also watched Napoleon Dynamite, which I totally don't understand why people like it so much. The last twenty minutes or so were funny, but the first hour+ was watching somebody's boring crappy high school life. I had enough boring crappy life in high school as it was, thanks.
