Well, so much for posting every day this month. Heh. I went over to a friend's, and we watched several movies. Quickie reviews to follow.

The Grudge: A good horror movie, with nicely done creepy bits and special effects that didn't just seem like bad CGI.

Shaun of the Dead: Still good, still funny, and some nifty extras on the DVD.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow: Not since the last Star Wars prequel have so many cool things been wasted in such a bad movie. All of the characters were mind-numbingly stupid and apparently get from place to place by teleporting, because there's no way they could have managed to get where they did when they did otherwise sometimes. The worst part was Polly Perkins, the "ace reporter" chick. "There were seven of us scientists in this secret project, six of them have vanished." < Polly > "Who's the next target? Who?" Ow, my brain. She did nothing, added nothing to the plot, was the crappiest reporter EVER, lied to the hero when the fate of the world was at stake, and just generally ruined the movie. Well, helped ruin. Sigh. I so wanted to like that movie.

And that's about it, other than noting that if deer are going to be dumb enough to run out in front of you, there's few better times than late at night on an empty road, so you don't get run into by other idiots.

You're not alone Forsyth. Sky Captain was the largest movie disappointment for me so far this year. It begged, really BEGGED, to be cool, but no...Crappy acting and horrible plot dragged it down screaming in a visual orgy of pain. >_<
