I was going to post something long, but I'm tired.
So, a new fact I learned today. I learned how meme is supposed to be pronounced, it's pronounced like "meem", not "me-me". Honestly, I think "me-me" sounds better, but. I really should learn to read the source things come from, shouldn't I? Then I'd have known this.
And this came to mind because I've seen a lot of the "Liberals/Democrats/Kerry hate religion! This is why Bush won!" meme running around, and it's stupid and wrong. Mostly, anyway, it works because there's a little bit of truth to it, in that the Republicans and Radical Fundamentalist Right have managed to define "values" and "faith" their way, at least in politics. And their way is pretty much defined by wanting to make abortion and homosexuality illegal. (Along with tax cuts and bombing people we don't like) Which is partially the Democrat's fault for letting them, and also partly the fault of liberals who don't like religion, but also partially the fault of the majority of religious folks who aren't Batshit Radical Fundamentalists. And the press, for letting them get away with it. There's plenty of blame to go around, and the end result now is that people think they're voting for morals and end up voting in Batshit Radical Fundamentalists (See: Senate, House) and immoral incompetents (See: Bush Administration).
