How the World Didn't End

The grey goo multiplied exponentially,like we'd long feared it might, if it got loose. It started out slow, but when each nanite builds another, they don't have to move far. It went from a baseball to a room to a building in half an hour, and in the next half hour had disassembled the entire city. Guns, bombs, any attempt to stop it was just disassembled and turned into more.

And then it stopped, for no reason we could see, and it spoke. “Oops, sorry about that,” it said,“Hang on, I think I can fix this.”

On the TV series Gargoyles, Dingo told it about Law & Order, and the mass of nanites decided to become his partner and his new costume. Unfortunately for use, Redemption Squad was only a pilot--Disney instead made The Goliath Chronicles, a disappointing step down.

Really? I don't remember that episode at all. Must have been near the end, I'm guessing, when Fox started showing them all sorts of out of order?

Yeah, it was set in Australia, and Dingo had left the Pack after "Upgrade" because he didn't like where the Pack was going without Fox to keep them sane. Fox's mother (a.k.a. Titania) had a research facility where nanite experiments were carried out, and one mass called Matrix was beginning to run amok. (This was also when Goliath, Elyssa and Angela were on their journeys after the first visit to Avalon.) Anyway, it went as above.

Redemption Squad was a planned spin-off of Gargoyles in which some of the villains from the Gargoyles would have been teamed up under the mysterious "Director" as a strikeforce to stop bigger and worse villains in the world. Dingo/Matrix would have been on the team, along with the Japanese Gargoyle Yoma, one of the Hunters, and others I can't think of off the top of my head.
