There isn't a "Social Security Crisis." There's a General Fund Crisis, because we're spending zillions of dollars more than we make. The problem comes when the Social Security surplus goes away and starts cashing in the Treasury Bonds it's built up, and the deficit's full size is revealed, like how a video game boss changes forms the first time you defeat him. I'll go into this some more at another time, but that's the essence of it.
