Internet: The Global Language

I was looking at a Russian blog with all sorts of pictures on it. One of the posts contained a bunch of Russian, and then LOL, which looked completely out of place amidst the Cyrillic alphabet. Weird.

Kind of makes you wonder doesn't it? Are they using L-O-L because it's "standard convention", despite the fact that it has English origin/connotations? Maybe they're like some people who use those annagrams without thinking really. I wonder what the Russian equivalent of "LOL" would be?
