Colbert: "The people have spoken. And apparently they're tired of freedom."
Virginia Senate Results:

G F Allen Republican 1,162,327 49.25%
G G Parker Independent Green 26,098 1.11%
Write Ins 2,332 0.10%
Total: 2,360,015
"Gay Marriage Ban"
Yes 1,317,817 57.06%
No 991,800 42.94%
So now what happens now, as I understand it, is all the absentee and provisional ballots get counted, and once that's done, then if it's still so close any recounts can happen. Either the losing candidate can ask, or if it's within 1%, 50 people can petition and it'll happen.
And the fucking gay marriage constitutional ban passed. Which means 57% of Virginians are worried about a complete non-issue. I seriously don't understand at all the hysteria about OHNOES TEH GAY!
Also, since only 2,309,617 people voted on the amendments, if those extra 50,000 people had voted against it, the marriage amendment would have gone down to well deserved defeat. Damnit, people!
But all in all, the national results look good. Very good, except for now Leiberman's gonna probably end up being one of the important tie-breaker votes in the Senate. But everything else looks good. Bush might actually have to break out his veto pen.
