The things new books cause...
Jun. 18th, 2004 11:22 pmI've been pondering running a D&D campaign for a while, featuring airships. Because airships are one of my fanboy buttons. The question is, though, do I really want to use D&D? I mean, there's plenty of rules info and stuff, but D&D doesn't seem quite like the system would fit. Combat's all wrong, for one, and I'm not sure I like the whole class/level bit, better as it is in 3e. But I'm thinking I could hack it up to make it work. And, since the people most likely to possibly play this, if I ever run it, are online, and on my friends list, maybe you guys could suggest things and stuff.
Probably gonna use Bastion Press's Airships for airship design, and steal bits from many many other places. Or maybe wait until Ebberon comes out, and look at that...eh. nah, I'd rather make up my own and steal bits. So, it's sorta three-fold. First, interesting setting bits suggestions are welcome, second ideas for rules bits are welcome, and third, I dunno if anybody'd even be interested. It'd probably have steampunk, too, because that's another fanboy button. So, I guess who'd be interested in helping flesh out rules/setting would be the main question, really.
Oh, and if anybody's not familiar with D&D/D20, which I doubt, this is a handy resource, contains all the Open Gaming stuff from the PHB, DMG, and MM. http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/home.html

Plus for space-capable ships of the same sort, you can't go past Space 1999. Very interesting setting; very horrible system.
Mmmm, steampunk.
