Often, the potential of something, it's possibilities, are much more interesting than the actual execution of the thing.

And yes, I mean in more than just sex.

Second, I wonder, did the Romans and Greeks have fundamentalists? Did the priests of Zeus and Neptune stand around calling each other names and drawing naughty graffiti on each other's temples? Though I suppose it's the right of any future people to look back on their forebears and go "Man, did they REALLY believe all that shit?"

The Egyptians had a major cow (pun sorta intended) when Queen Nefertiti attempted to introduce monotheism to them. I'm sure that every stripe of spirituality has subveins of fundamentalism and moderation within it...at least past a certain point of maturity.
