50 Books #4 and 5
Oct. 6th, 2007 01:38 pm#4: 1634: The Bavarian Crisis by Eric Flint and Virginia DeMarce
The latest book in Eric Flint's Ring of Fire series. They're about a small West Virginia town that gets tossed back in time into Germany in 1632, in the middle of the chaos of the 17th century. Fun with alternate history. It's an awesome series. This one was a little bit quieter than some of the others, but this was also the third book set in 1634. Even with lots going on, it gets a little, y'know.
$5: To Reign in Hell by Steven Brust
This was the book I meant to have as #2, but forgot. Steven Brust took the variously written and interpreted stories of the whole War in Heaven and restarted them as a fantasy novel, basically. It's really quite good, which is about all I can think to say right now.
Still working through How to Win Friends and Influence People a couple of chapters a day.
