MAN. What's with me, that I can't just get to the important awesome parts and make them awesome? Even when I was working on what was supposed to be a fight scene, it turned into a chase scene, and wasn't epic at ALL. Is it just that I need to get everything to the point where stuff's in place for things to be awesome, or do I have some kind of reflexive instinct against writing awesome epic scenes? Seriously, I'm 13K words into this, and the apocalypse hasn't even STARTED, much less have the sky burst open with the sound of a million heavenly guitars and have a host of angels pour through wielding flaming swords/guitars and the earth crack the opposite way and have demons do the inverse thing. Maybe I think too much while I'm writing. Or maybe I just put in too much build-up.

Because I can take any of the mythological whatever involved, and make them into metaphors for something else. Supernatural metaphors are flexible, and that's part of why I always find it so funny to see people arguing about what's "authentic" for vampires/zombies/werewolves/whatever. There is no real and unique them, there's just what we choose to project on them and turn them into. Like play-doh.
