Aside: Succession

Succession is exactly what it sounds like. It's the method of how a Citizen of the Infinite City appoints a successor. Appoints may be too strong a word. Many methods of Succession are rather random. Or violent. When one of the Citizens retires (or dies), their power is transferred to a mortal, who becomes the new carrier of the Idea. Some methods of Succession are simply speculation or legend, for if anyone knows the last times certain Ideas changed minds, they're not telling. A ban on interfering with Succession is the oldest of the Laws. Assuming anyone even knew how.
