Well, I finally sat down and made myself write, and I got something, sorta. The intro to something, a redoing of a story I started a long while ago, now with new improved non-suckiness. I hope. Except the intro didn't even get finished because instead of being short like I'd planned, things kept going off on tangents and filling in a teensy bit of backstory for what's going on and suchlike. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but... Well, look for yourself. And yes, it's only been computer spellchecked, and I have no idea how you spell h'ours d'ourves, I'll look it up when I go back and edit it.

Via Obsidian Wings (direct link here) (Though Drew already mentioned it on his LJ before I did), apparently, as part of "H.R. 10, the "9/11 Recommendations Implementation Act of 2004," introduced by House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL)", the Republican leadership in Congress is trying to legalize and strip ANY protection to stop "Extraordinary rendition". What that means in plain English is when we send "suspected terrorists" overseas to be tortured. This is, frankly, completely illegal, under US and international law (see the U.N. Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Degrading and Inhuman Treatment). Why do they hate America so much? I can think of few better ways to completely surrender our moral leadership and example in the world than stooping to legalizing this kind of two-bit thuggery.

The full text of the bill is Here, but it's like 500 pages as a PDF.

Just go read the comments and things over at Obsidian Wings and WRITE your congresscritters. They may be in safe seats, but I'm not sure how safe ANY seat would be, were it found out the congresscritter involved voted for torture. At least I HOPE they wouldn't be. I'll post the text of my letter to my congresscritter here later, once I finish it. Go, read, freak, write them. Click Here to write your representative. And pass this information around!
