"This isn't about Succession," I said.
Nomos snorted. "Like you would know. Now, the rest of you, bugger off! Succession is none of our business. As for you," he said, turning back to me, "Tell me why I shouldn't haul you down for interfering with the most sacrosanct parts of the Law?"
I probably shouldn't have goaded him with that crack about the Rule of Law. But what the hell. We never got on anyway, and now he had to put on a show for the crowd. I shrugged. "Because that might tamper with Succession."
Okay, so I was bluffing.
