College rankings
I'm sure you've all seen those "best US college" rankings, You get the typical ones, then the "Best party colleges, best drinking colleges, most pot-friendly colleges, colleges where you're most likely to not wake up the morning after Spring Break with herpes," etc.
They're based on all sorts of different things, like cost, reputation, careers, etc. Well, today I saw one that was a little different. Not the goofy kind, either. The Washington Monthly College Guide is based on things like public service, the number of grant students the college has, how many students join the Peace Corps, how much public research gets done, that sort of thing. It's interesting to see how it matches up to the regular ones.
