In Which I Make Excuses
Jun. 21st, 2005 02:18 pmI've had trouble writing Fors stuff lately, which I'm sure is no surprise to any of you. Part of it, of course, is laziness. I won't deny that. But that's not all of it. Partly, I've changed since when I wrote most of the ones that're done, which were years ago now. I'm not quite as innocent or optimistic as I used to be, and I have new priorities, and have a harder time finding things funny, sometimes. The world's uglier, scarier, and more chaotic than it used to be, there's not so much need for tricksters to shake things up, more need for sanity and order. And partly, it's harder to write about a thief who happily ignores stupid laws when living under a President and Administration that've happily been ignoring laws for years, and seeing how that's fucked up the country.
It just doesn't seem as important, and it's so hard to laugh, while things are going to hell. "Sometimes, you've got to laugh, or else you'll cry," is something I've seen said a lot, but I feel like I've forgotten how to laugh.
Maybe I could use all this and turn it into good stories or something, but... I dunno. I just haven't had the motivation.
