The Excitement of In-Store Play
Jun. 9th, 2005 09:11 pmOne of the benefits of working in the music department at B&N is that's where the CD player is. So I have control over the in-store music. Which means basically I can pick 5 CDs, and then hit play, then pick 5 new ones when it stops. With only a dozen CDs or so per month, you can quickly get sick of things, but at least I can avoid the suckiest CDs, like bad crooner covers of songs like Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Also, there's a signup list for who gets the in-store play CDs when the month's over, but since that fills up like the DAY it goes up, that doesn't help me much.
Which is annoying, since there's a CD I actually like this month, with one song I especially like, a very Fors-sounding song. The song's "This is My Song", by Carbon Leaf, off Indian Summer (I don't remember the proper way to note album titles, nor do I care). It's got lyrics like "While I'm alive, what can go wrong?" it just seems to fit. Of course, I'm probably missing some deeper hidden meaning that completely puts it on its head, but maybe not.
