A misconception
May. 12th, 2005 11:04 pmI think one of the reason polluters can get away with some of the things they do, especially in government, is simple. People can't see it. And in this case, much of the environmental movement helps them, by phrasing things wrong. Such as "Save the Planet". We don't need to save the planet. Earth is big. It'll still be here, barring quantum mishaps.
What needs to be saved is an environment that's hospitable and friendly to human beings to live in. Not the planet, but us. It's a lot closer to home, and people will act more to save their own hides. And by making the effects of pollution immediate and clear on a personal level, you'd probably convince more people.
Fuck, I'm gonna turn into a propagandist, aren't I? Ah well.
