I Hate Cars

forsythToday was my first day of work at Barnes and Noble. But I'm not going to talk about that. Nor am I going to post some of the witty insights I had afterward, for one reason. I got done at 3, it's 7:15, and I just got home. And so I'm going to rant. About why I hate cars.
I fucking hate cars. I really do. There's many, many good reasons to but there's a few particulars tonight. My car in particular, for one. Which I particularly hate and would dearly love to not ever drive again.
It was raining when I drove in to work. And apparently I left the lights on, but I could swear I'd turned them off. Which meant I had to get the car jumped. And then, when I got it jumped, and was waiting to turn, it died again. In the lane. And wouldn't even turn over when I got it jumped again. Fucking piece of shit. And a cop showed up, so I had to get it towed, back to the house, which isn't cheap. Yay. I love how the money I'd been saving up to move is being sucked away by expenses like towing and dentists and stuff.
That's one of the reasons I want to move. To a city. Where there's things like SIDEWALKS, and BUSES, and SUBWAYS. So I don't have to fucking drive. I hate driving. The only times I enjoy it much at all are at night, except then I'm paranoid about deer. I do not enjoy the activity of driving at all. I hate cars. They suck. They were a good idea, once, that got taken WAY too far. They're huge, and heavy, and suck. They pollute, and kill thousands of people a year. They've completely fucked over the country with the creation of suburbia and killed off the railroads and other useful mass transit options. And now we have sprawling, shitty suburbs that are ten minutes from everything, but only by car. No sidewalks, no bike trails, no corner store. And we're dependent on not very nice people because they're sitting on oil because we need it to run our fucking SUVs. 25% of all the oil we get goes to cars. And our cars suck more and more each yet.
Cars are expensive, and break, and cost more in upkeep than a horse, and horses aren't cheap. Cars, in general, fucking suck. And that's one of the biggest reasons I want to move, so I don't have to use the bloody things.
