I just had an idea for a setting

For a science fiction story. It's near-futurish, or at least near enough for the world to be recognizable, mostly. But it's set in some third world country, which is a haven of desperation today. But it was lucky/smart enough to have leaders who were able to take care of a burst of generosity from the "Big Nations", and successfully leapfrogged to high-tech and sustainable stuff, because they didn't have any huge investment in old stuff like the US does. So you could make something from the "ground up" as it were.

It'd be a lot more work than that, of course, you'd have to make it fit the local culture and make it plausible and such, but I think it'd make a good story, or setting for other things, at least.
