After reading a Rant about fortune telling over in
limyaael's LJ, I have this urge to write a story where somebody fakes their way into being the Chief Magician, even though they have no magic. Fors wants to do it, but. And yes, it'd be kinda like a lot of the MYTH books.
And just because you're good, here's a little Fors snippet, where he talks about travel.
I get restless easy. It's not really the call of the open road, travelling's mostly dusty, hot, muddy, cold, and everything in between. It's not nearly as glamorous as bards say it is, they say that mostly to convince themselves. But it has its moments, and sometimes, those moments are even better than the bards's lies, and almost make it worth it. And you can usually find something interesting along the way. But me, I'm in it for the destination. There's always somewhere new and interesting.Mp

One thing I've found when traveling, though, is fences, and walls. People put them up all over, proclaiming "there's something neat on the other side of this I don't want you near." They lie, lots of the time. But unless you look, you'd never know. And there's always another fence, never been one not worth the trouble it causes to jump it.
